In January 2024 a group of local volunteers began to implement Hooper's Emergency Preparedness plan using FEMA's National Incident Management System - Incident Command System (https://www.fema.gov/emergency-managers/nims). This is a large undertaking but something that certainly is essential. To date, the city has been parsed out into four quadrants and 17 areas in total within in the quadrants with the expectation of coordinators for each quadrant and area. The volunteers are now working to further develop our city’s Emergency Plan to be better prepared as a city, families, and individuals.
Three Fold Purpose
1. Implement Incident Command System
2. Develop a core of CERT (Certified Emergency Response Team) volunteers.
3. Develop resources, education, and training for family and personal preparedness.
